Data and Criteria review for Prioritizing Areas of the Pará State PSA Program
The International Institute for Sustainability (IIS) has signed a contract with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) to review data and criteria for applying a multicriteria analysis. The goal is to define the prioritization of areas for the State Environmental Services Payment Program (PEPSA) of the State Department of Environment and Sustainability (SEMAS) of Pará.
The study aims for the efficient allocation of resources to maximize expected results in terms of socio-environmental benefits of the PEPSA/PA. The definition of these criteria is done within the context of private areas, family farming, indigenous territories, quilombola, and traditional communities.
The review of criteria and prioritization analysis conducted by IIS will support decision-making by SEMAS/PA managers and estimate the expected benefits of landscape restoration activities, forest remnants management, and conservation.
TNC is a global environmental conservation organization dedicated to large-scale land and water preservation, operating in 72 countries. The organization uses a collaborative approach, involving local communities, governments, the private sector, and other partners. In Brazil for over 30 years, TNC promotes initiatives in key biomes to align the economic and social development of these regions with the conservation of natural ecosystems.
