IIS Specialist receives the highest literary award in Brazil
Considered the highest literary award in the country, the Brazilian prize known as “Prêmio Jabuti” nominated the “Red Book of Flora of Brazil” as the 2014 winner in Natural Sciences category. The book organized by Gustavo Martinelli and Miguel Avila Moraes has the participation of Felipe Sodré Barros, GIS specialist at International Institute for Sustainability.
Felipe worked in spatial analysis and map preparation to the publication. “The flora spatial analysis process was one of different factors considered in evaluating the conservation status of species. Our great achievement with the ‘Red Book’ is the proposal of evaluation structured in a system that integrates spatial analysis with other elements, providing a consistent overview of environmental influences on the assessed species”, explained.
