IIS at XVI CONGRESS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF ETHNOBIOLOGY
The IIS´postdoctoral researcher André Junqueira attended last week the XVI CONGRESS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF ETHNOBIOLOGY – XII BRAZILIAN SYMPOSIUM ON ETHNOBIOLOGY AND ETNOECOLOGY that happened in Belém do Pará – Brazil. André spoke about “The current use of domesticated landscapes: implications for conservation and sustainability “. His lecture was part of the session ‘Historical Ecology of the Amazon: origins, development and importance for the conservation of socio-biodiversity’, of which he was one of the organizers, and was attended by specialists from various disciplines, such as ecology, archeology, anthropology, linguistics, besides an indigenous researcher from the Wajãpi ethnic group. The event was attended by researchers from more than 70 countries and more than 600 representatives of indigenous peoples and other traditional communities from around the world.
