IIS is recognized in the lessons learned from the Native Vegetation Recovery Plan of Pará
The Alliance for restoration in the Amazon shared, on January 29th, the lessons learned in the construction of the Native Vegetation Recovery Plan of Pará (PRVN-PA).
The publication shared the challenges and learnings during the process, in order to guide other Brazilian states that wish to implement restoration policies.
The document highlighted the importance of the work carried out by the IIS, which in addition to co-leading the Organization, Integration and Consolidation Committee, prepared, together with the Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability of Pará and other partner institutions, the final proposal for the Plan:
“A point highlighted in the interviews was the relevance of the organizations that were part of the “Organization, Integration and Consolidation Committee”, especially due to their experiences and commitment to the plan’s objectives. This nucleus was considered essential for consolidating the proposals and defining paths practical and applicable for implementation. The role played by the IIS was mentioned as fundamental, highlighting the importance of having a responsible institution fully dedicated to the integral conduct of the process. This dedication contributed to the consistency and solidity of the work, especially on paper. technical coordination, organization and consolidation of the textual part of the PRVN.”
To create the document, several actors who participated in the process were interviewed, including the environment secretary of Pará. The work was carried out by the Sense-lab consultancy, with support from WRI-Brasil.
