IIS team members attended the World Biodiversity Forum
IIS team members attended the World Biodiversity Forum, in Davos (Switzerland), from 23rd to 28th February.
IIS executive director Agnieszka Latawiec presented “Solutions for an Integrated Landscape Management based on Land Owners‘ Perspective: A Case of Study of the São João River Basin, Brazil “, developed within the GEF Private Areas Project: Conserving Biodiversity and Rural Landscapes. Agnieszka mentioned the workshop organized with local producers in August 2019 and the challenges and solutions pointed by the farmers that will be incorporated into the project´s action plan.
Bernardo Strassburg,also IIS executive director, presented “A Strategic Approach to Restoration Planning“, based on a Integrated Land Use Planning plataform developed by IIS to support decision making which results will be published soon in Nature.
Fabio Scarano, IIS collaborator, was one of the keynote speakers on the 27th, and contagious the audience with his optimism and inspirational vision in his speech about “Sustainability: Convergence and Futures”
The first World Biodiversity Forum brought together leading researchers, early career researchers, practitioners, representatives from different sectors, decision-makers and societal actors to have a conversation on the kind of future we want (and/or do not want) for biodiversity.
