IIS will discuss sustainable livestock in Rio de Janeiro
The challenges to the development of livestock in tropical hotspots and the contributions to sustainable landscape are some of the topics to be discussed at the workshop “Initiatives for sustainable livestock in Brazil: current status and challenges to a wider adoption”. The event organized by the International Institute for Sustainability (IIS), with the support of Norad, will be held on September 22nd and 23rd at Solar da Imperatriz, Rio de Janeiro.
The first day will be dedicated to discuss case studies on the necessity for sustainable intensification of livestock in the country, and the ‘state of the art’ on the adoption of Good Agricultural Practices – a set of agricultural management techniques developed by Embrapa. The second day will focus on the analysis of technical and economical parameters of intensification and the Intensification Matrix, a tool designed to compare the methods of sustainable intensification of beef cattle.
The confirmed speakers include the International Institute for Sustainability, Embrapa, TNC, IPAM, ESALQ/USP, ICV, GTPS, Imaflora, University of Cambridge, Idesam, Via Verde, LAPIG/UFMG, AGROICONE and Agrosuisse, and also external consultants and rural producers.
